What a week!

This last week has been just great! Monday we met all of Jeremy's family and ate at Applebee's to celebrate August birthdays. Tuesday we went to the Dave Matthews Band concert at the USANA. We had fun sitting on the grass listening to good music. (And being entertained by everyone around us who were drunk and high! We got home from the concert and for some strange reason had the munchies . . . . weird!) Wednesday night we met up with Aaron and Jenny and went to the Davis County Demolition Derby. . . . those are always just so great! Thursday was my birthday! I went to work (where they had decorated my cubicle), then went out to lunch with mom and grandma. (It is our weekly Thursday tradition . . . mom comes and picks grandma up from her assisted living apartment, then stops by and picks me up from work and we drive to Hires to eat lunch. The waitress who comes out to take our orders every week knows exactly what we want and we chit chat and catch up for a minute . . . she is pregnant and having a boy . . . they were hoping for a girl! We eat lunch in the car and mom drives me back to work just in time for my 1/2 hour lunch to be up! It is just perfect and fun to get out and go to lunch with mom and grandma!) A couple hours after lunch my co-workers had ice cream and cake for me, then I left at 3:30! I came home and watched TV and relaxed on the couch for a while, then Jeremy got home and we went out to dinner with our friends Brock and Melanie. They took us to a yummy chinese restaurant downtown "Charlie Chows" where we ate far too much! I had a wonderful day and appreciated all the phone calls and messages wishing me a happy birthday! I didn't have my camera with me a lot this week but here are a couple pictures!

Showing off my birthday presents!

I got new running shoes, as my other ones were starting to get some nice breathing holes in them! A Columbia rain/wind jacket that Jer got me a the outlets, and a cute flower headband that Stacie made! Thanks again! I had a great day!

Fire!!!

A few weekends ago Jeremy and I went down to Mapleton to spend the day. We were all getting ready to go to dinner when all of the sudden I heard this huge BOOM! Our power flickered off then back on. Mom and I started walking around the house to investigate. She opened the front door and realized that the neighbors were running over to the house right next to ours. I looked out the back window and saw a whole bunch of smoke! We ran outside and saw the neighbors field was on fire. Dad and Jeremy grabbed all of our hoses and hooked them up to start helping. Luckily all of our neighbors were home so it took about 2 minutes for everyone to start battling the field fire! The fire department was called (but remember this is Mapleton . . . . it is a volunteer fire department, so they get the message at home, have to meet at the station and then get to where the fire is!) and came about 10 minutes later. Luckily with all of the joint hoses efforts the fire was pretty much out by the time they got there. They came and doused the field with water. Then just stood around and talked for a while (as the picture below will show!!)

We stayed around and talked to everyone for a minute then was off and headed to dinner . . . . just like any other night!
Good job us!

Family Fun 2010

A few weekends ago we had a couple family reunions the same weekend. On Friday night we went up to the Heber Young Women's Camp with all of Jeremy's extended family. That camp is very impressive with showers, flushing toilets, ice machines and cabins. If only I were a young women again so I could go and bask in the fun that I am sure goes on at that camp . . . . . ! We had fun cooking dutch oven dinner and visiting with family. Then that night they had all of the newlyweds from that year and year + (there were 4 couples) play the newlywed game. I am glad to announce that Jeremy and I tied for first . . . phew. . . ! It was a fun night and we had GREAT dutch oven food. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures because we were busy making the food . . then eating it all! We said goodbye to everyone that night and headed to Park City to start my family reunion. We woke up the next day and met everyone at Deer Creek. The weather didn't really cooperate with us in wanting to enjoy a nice hot day outside. Instead it was windy and then we got rained on . . . . we did get to ride in the boat then take the wave runner out for a minute before I made Jeremy go in because I was shivering too much! We had a good rest of the weekend hanging out at the condo, eating lots of good food, swimming and riding the alpine slide and coaster! It was sure fun having everyone together and being able to spend some time together! Look how cute these kids are!
