We went to the ultrasound and at first the tech couldn't tell if she was a boy or a girl.  She took all the measurements and gathered all the information they needed.  Since she still couldn't tell the sex for sure she had me get up and move around and go to the bathroom (which was a welcome relief, since I hadn't gone to the bathroom in over 3 hours and had drank a lot of water in prep for the ultrasound!).  We started the ultrasound again and luckily it only took a couple minutes for the ultrasound tech to say "oh, it's a girl!"  

I was a little shocked because I was thinking it would be a boy. (I hadn't had any dreams or revelations . . I just thought it would be boy . . . oh and because the chinese calendar said it would be!)

     We are pretty excited!

Last Day

Saturday morning we had to check out of our hotel but our flight didn't leave until 10:00 that night so we had all day to enjoy!  

We first headed to the "National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl".

Built in 1948 this National Cemetery is located in the Pu'owaina Crater (Punchbowl). In ancient times this crater was known as the "Hill of Sacrifice". So today the cemetery is a memorial to the sacrifice made by the men and women in the United States Armed Services. Dedicated on September 2, 1949, 776 casualties from the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor were among the first to be buried here.

Lady Columbia symbolizes all grieving mothers and looks out on the cemetery that fills the 116-acre Punchbowl Crater.  The view from the Punchbowl encompasses the city of Honolulu from Waikiki and Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor.

The impressive memorial sits high on the wall of the crater overlooking the graves area of the cemetery. It consists of a non-sectarian chapel, two map galleries, a monumental staircase leading from the crater floor to the Court of Honor, and ten Courts of the Missing. A total of 28,778 names are inscribe on the ten Courts of the Missing which flank the staircase.

It was a great experience being there and we were glad that we had the chance to go and see all of the names posted and all the graves of the people who have been buried there.    

Then we headed to the Dole Plantation to see all different kinds of pineapples there are and eat delicious pineapple ice cream!  

I said to Jeremy "turn around and smile" . . and this is what I got!  

He also found a new girlfriend while we were there.

Yum Yum Yum is all I can say about this . . . . and I wish I were eating it right now!

We headed to the North Shore and watched a surfing competition for a while!  The waves were pretty big!

We stopped at Turtle Bay to enjoy the big waves there too!

We had a wonderful week!  It was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary, graduation and life!  Until next time Hawaii . . . we will miss you!

Diamond Head

Thursday we hiked Diamond Head.  It was an overcast day so a perfect day to hike.  The view from the top was beautiful!

After our hike we drove to a beach to relax.  It was still a little overcast and luckily we had an umbrella with us because it started raining.  We just sat under our umbrella and waited for the rain to pass.  The nice thing about Hawaii rain is that it isn't cold!  The temperature stays nice and warm!

The next day we drove to the west side of the island to enjoy a few beaches there.  

I was taking our picture and some crazy lady ran up and volunteered to take our picture.  So I handed her our camera and as soon as I did I looked at Jeremy . . we were thinking the same thing.  He was getting ready to run after her incase she bolted off with it!  Well she didn't take off running, she was just a nice person who wanted to help!  We kinda felt bad for thinking that she was going to steal our camera . . . but only a little!
