Help from dad

 This is what happens when you ask the dad to help get your baby dressed.

Cradle

Back when I was about 4 or 5 months pregnant we were talking with my parents and my dad brought up the idea of how fun it might be for he and Jeremy to make our baby a little cradle in the wood shop.  So they went to work.  They did have some plans that they went off of, but Jeremy redesigned those plans and made our cradle smaller and taller (per my request!).  They also added bead board on the ends which I just love!

The wood was from an old walnut tree from grandma and grandpa Hjorth's.  So not only is it special for our kids because dad and grandpa made it, the wood is even special too!

We were thinking about doing a color stain, but the wood looked so beautiful we decided to just do a natural stain.

It did take a few weekends to make, so we would head down to Mapleton and spend a day or two.  Here Tessa and Jeremy are reading stories together!

She loved sleeping in it and did very well!  I liked having her in our room for the first few months too.  Now she is in her crib and looks oh so small!  But it was time for the move, she was getting a bit big.  When she would move her arms in the cradle in the middle of the night she would hit the slats on the side and wake us all up!

4th of July

For the 4th of July we headed to Aunt Kris and Uncle Mark's house to swim!  We had a great time and Avery loved her swimming suit Aunt Kris gave her!

Blessing

We blessed Avery on June 17th which happened to be fathers day.  Jeremy did a wonderful job and so did Avery!  :)  We were able to come back to our house to have all of our family and a few friends over.  It was so nice to be able to have everyone come over and have enough room! We ate excellent food and roasted in the sun!  We cleaned up outside and continued the party inside.  Avery was such a happy girl that day and did good being passed around and loved on by lots of people! 

It was a fun fathers day!  Thanks to Jeremy for being such a great father to Avery and husband to me!

That afternoon she just loved laying on the floor to kick!  She may have needed a little "no one needs to hold me" time!

I wanted to get some pictures of Avery in her dress but after church she wasn't the happiest.  So that night after she had a good nap I got her back in her dress and got these sweet pictures on the beautiful quilt that Aunt Barbie made for Avery!  Her dress was special because it was my dress when I was blessed.  I only had to buy shoes and a headband for her!

This was my bonnet.  I didn't have any hair so my mom said I wore a bonnet.  So we had to get Avery in a couple pictures with the bonnet.

A couple weeks later I took Avery to Target to get some professional pictures in her dress done.  I wasn't too impressed with some of the pictures (and they charged me an arm and a leg to buy the digital copies).  We will not be using Target Studio again!  But hey, can there be a bad picture of Avery?  I think not.  Kinda like . . . can there be bad ice cream?  Nope.
