The Greers: Oahu!

We were lucky enough to be able to go back to Hawaii for a wonderful week long vacation!

This was a late anniversary trip (we had to cancel a vacation we were planning to San Diego in May because of Jeremy's school), a graduation trip (good job Jer!), and a one last time just us trip with no kids that we probably won't be able to go on (or afford!) for another 25 years!

We left our coats in the car in Utah Saturday afternoon and got off the plane to the wonderful warm weather of Hawaii!

That night we got there we checked into our hotel (which apparently is a really popular hotel for Asian's . . . most the time we were the only white people there!) and headed back outside to enjoy the wonderful weather. We walked up the busy street off Waikiki Beach, grabbed some dinner at yummy Dukes (which we ate at twice while on our trip!) then walked back on the beach to our hotel while watching the sunset. Perfect day already and we had just gotten there!

The view from our hotel room. We would wake up everyday to the beautiful harbor across the street. The first day we were still on Utah time so woke up bright and early and got going (don't worry that didn't last all week long!). We took a quick picture in our room with the Harbor in the background and headed to Pearl Harbor!

When we got to Pearl Harbor the first thing we did was take a boat ride out to the USS Arizona Memorial. It was a wonderful experience.

After the Arizona we did an audio tour of the Bowfin Submarine. Very cool and VERY cramped! I don't know how those guys would live in there! Yikes!

One of the funny workers there volunteered to take our picture but we had to pretend we were doing something so our hands are on some sort of device!!

This is a Tomahawk Cruise Missile. At one of Jeremy's previous jobs he made the engines for this missile.

Those are some big guns!

I saw this sign and just started laughing. Chris gave me the nickname of Meggers. I looked up the meaning of "Megger" just now. . . . it has something to do with electrical testing and measuring . . or something like that! Look it up for yourself if you really want to know!

Jeremy took this picture to show my dad of this big lathe. The guy who took us on the tour said that this still works and the military would like it but they can't get it out of the ship. They actually had to build the ship around some of the machines inside of the machine shop!

I needed a rest so Jeremy took off exploring. Can you spy me by the flags?!

Then we headed over to the Pacific Aviation Museum. That is where I found my new boyfriend and saw lots of cool planes!

We spent the whole day there from when they opened to when they closed. It was a great day! Being there made the stories that we hear more real to us by seeing everything in person and helped us to appreciate our veterans even more!
